What is a bachelorette party?

Wikipedia describes a bachelorette party as a "hen(s) party, hen(s) night or hen(s) do, is a party held for a woman who is about to be married. The terms hen party or hen night are common in the United Kingdom and Ireland, while the terms hens party or hens night are common in Australia and New Zealand, and the term bachelorette party is common in the United States." That being said, a bachelorette party is designed for a woman's best friends and family to take the person to be married for a night on the town - drinking, partying and having fun in a girls only group.   The maid of honor, or group of best friends are responsible for organizing a night of bar hopping, restaurant hopping, dancing, singing, drinking and just blowing off steam before the wedding day.  Bachelorette parties are for socializing for the single ladies and a chance for girls to have a fun night out.
